MISSION: The intent of the Classical Leadership Academy program is to provide a challenging and enriching educational experience for gifted and talented students which is accelerated beyond the normal curriculum. McKinley CLA offers a culturally diverse educational program for the entire student body in a learning environment designed to nurture both intellectual and personal growth. Our child-school-parent support system strengthens the relationship between family and school.

THE BUZZ AROUND MCKINLEY
On Wednesday morning, January 27, 2010, the McKinley CLA School-Wide Spelling Bee Competition was held in the auditorium.
Three finalists represented each grade level. 6th Grade: Hasan Baig, Duncan Frazier and Olivia Mikel. 7th Grade: Emil Beckford,
Mary Blair and Isaac Parker. 8th Grade: Eddie Cademy, Alexander Heermann and Khaliah Kelly. All the participants performed
well. Isaac Parker, 7th Grade, was the winner and Emil Beckford and Khaliah Kelly were runner-ups. Congratulations to everyone for
an outstanding effort!

Mr. Adams in assisting with the setup of microphones, lighting and furniture;
and the teachers who assisted in the supervision of students during the competition.
The 2009-2010 McKinley CLA Goldbug yearbook is now on sale! Students have received the yearbook order form and payment envelope.The cost of the yearbook is $20. Checks made payable to “McKinley CLA.” Our yearbook is planned by Ms. Love, Ms. Goldman, Mrs.Patricia Brown, Mrs. Cotton, Mrs. Grant and Mr. Rosenfeld and promises include vibrant, full-color pages that bring memories to life. Do not miss out….Please have your student submit payment in envelope to his/her homeroom teacher. Please print student’s full name and homeroom number on check. Also, write on payment envelope the student’s name, grade, and home room teacher. Thank you for your support in assuring a successful yearbook sales campaign. Yearbooks will be distributed to the students in mid May. If you have any questions, contact Mr. Rosenfeld.
